Bride's Parents Hosting

If the bride's parents are hosting, then the wording should go like this:

"Mr. and Mrs. Steven Smith request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter Laura Marie Smith to Mr. Joseph James Jones on Saturday, the 31st of July two thousand and nine at three o'clock in the afternoon. St. Paul's Church 1749 Argyle Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Reception to follow"

Groom's Parents Hosting

If the groom's parents are hosting, then the wording could go like this:

"Mr. and Mrs. George J. Carter request the honor of your presence at the marriage of Miss Laura Marie Smith to their son Mr. Joseph James Carter on Saturday, the twenty-first of July two thousand and five at four o'clock in the afternoon. St. Paul's Church 1749 Argyle Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia Reception to follow"

Hosting By Parents Of Groom And Bride

When both sets of parents are hosting, you should list each set on separate lines. Also, address the bride's parents first.

"Mr. and Mrs. Steven Smith and Mr. and Mrs. George J. Carter request the pleasure of your company at the marriage of their children Laura Marie Smith and Mr. Joseph James Carter
on Saturday, the twenty-first of July two thousand and five at four o'clock in the afternoon. St. Paul's Church 1749 Argyle Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia Reception to follow"

Who's Left? - Oh Yes, The Happy Couple!

Yes, we apologize. Everyone else was mentioned except the couple in the spotlight and hosting it themselves. In terms of wedding invitation wording examples, wording for the couple could go like this:

"The honor of your presence is requested at the marriage of Miss Laura Marie Smith daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Smith and Mr. Joseph James Carter son of Mr. and Mrs. George J. Carter."

Short, simple and sweet. And remember, these days, there's much more flexibility as far as wording is concerned.

These wedding invitation wording examples should hopefully take some pressure off. After all, it's a pretty standard thing. If it's a casual occasion, you have the flexibility to get creative. You don't have to stick to traditional methods. Enjoy expressing yourselves!
